Keith & I encourage the use of cameras with your furry kiddos. Not always because you distrust the care provider, but because you may observe a subtle signal which may be missed by someone who isn't mom or dad.
As care providers, I believe that it is our responsibility to make the process as seamless, simple & comfortable as possible for our clients. Pet parents have varying degrees of past trauma, or no trauma at all. This is why we disclose up front that we encourage cameras, that we won't ask you to disclose whether you have them; or where they're located. We simply expect cameras at all times in the common living spaces. Our thoughts are: if you're not dong anything you shouldn't, you shouldn't have an issue with cameras.
When seeking child care or pet care, please perform whatever due diligence you need in order to feel safe. Ask the questions. Read & understand the contract. Should you disagree with or feel uncomfortable with any provision, don't sign. See if the contract can be revised so that it's amenable to both parties. Request written proof of license, insurance, background check, certification, references, etc. Listen to your gut. Interview several candidates. Read the nonverbal language that's being communicated by the care providers as well as your beloved pets.
