Help When & Where You Can!

Updated: Jun 26, 2023

May 6, 2023: Episode 68

Sits & Wiggles has always given back to our community in a myriad of ways. Yes, we donate our earnings, time & energy to local causes. Yet, true community service shouldn't be an occasional act or gesture, but a way of life & a way of thinking. Acts of generosity should be inspired by the heart, in an effort to improve our world, not motivated by a tax deduction or a sense of obligation. Sits & Wiggles has & continues to:

* provide assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs

* offer guidance on how to interview pet care providers * attend consultations with other pet professionals to ensure safety (with their client) so that they're not alone * offer to pickup & deliver cans or checks to local nonprofit organizations

No, we don't charge for any of these actions. No, we won't receive tax credits, deductions or recognition. Yes, this costs us time, energy & effort. This is one of the ways that we invest in our community.

Some businesses will say, "sorry, we're booked" or "good luck finding someone", then hang up. Once they've determined that they cannot earn a profit from you, they're done with you.

We take our time & energy, often after business hours, to attempt to locate a trustworthy care provider for the people in need of services. ( I intentionally utilize the word "attempt", as the local pet care demand far exceeds the supply, and we may not be able to obtain trustworthy care for you. We will certainly try. )

Are we compensated for these efforts with referral fees? Not a cent. We don't charge nor do we receive any compensation when working with local pet professionals. We assist others because we care about the safety of the people & animals of our community. Will we ever hear back from these people again? That's irrelevant. Hopefully they will find care providers who they can trust with their pets & homes. We have done our part for the community by assisting them, to the extent of our ability. Whichever business or contractor you hire, please do your research & trust your gut. Sits & Wiggles is here for YOU. Prior to interviewing other providers, contact us. Share your questions & concerns. Call us back afterward if you'd like. We will encourage you to request proof of documentation. Don't take anyone's word that they're certified, licensed, insured, background checked, et cetera. Trust your gut. (Yes, my repetition here adds emphasis.) Request multiple visits if you need to. Remember that reviews can be faked. Request to speak with or meet their clients. Do however much you require to feel safe. Install cameras if you feel so inclined. I'm not suggesting that we should live cynically. We do need to be aware, & perform our due diligence, in order to maintain our safety.
